Thanksgiving. Christmas. New Years. For me and mine it has been six weeks straight of gluttony, legit sinful gluttony. We have over consumed and it has not done a single good thing for us.
It has been bad for our hearts and our bodies. We are short with one another and there is greed and jealousy over toys. We are exhausted easily and no one wants to take responsibility for anything.
We need a reset. We need to refocus. We spent a lot of time this season, focusing on love, and family, and Jesus above all...but we let our bodies go, and with the decline of our bodies, our health, our hearts, and spirits have gone down too. It has been shocking to me actually.
I have known and heard forever that you have to be well balanced; to live wholly you have to find a healthy balance. I just didn’t realize how much truth there was in this until these past few weeks. Our physical health impacts our home just as much as the depth of our faith or the love in our hearts, and it is often the most looked over...the thing we seem to have the least amount of time for is being healthy.
Last night my husband and I came to the same conclusion, we had to get healthy, healthier than we had been even before this season of gluttony. We are far from our best selves right now, far from living life with all the blessings God has for us. We only have one body to take care of, we only get one chance at childhood with our babies, and we desperately desire to have God’s will for our lives to be fully realized. So we are getting healthy, not to lose these extra pounds, but to live a life that’s full.
What about you? What are some changes that you see a need for in 2016?
What are some things that you can do to see God’s will in your lives fully realized?
