Week of Prayer: Day Three

Week of Prayer: Day Three

During difficult times, we struggle to find a way to make sense of things in our hearts. We struggle to explain to our children why things happen. We want to come alongside you and help you find a peace in your heart and pray peace and understanding for your children.

We want to point you to the gospel, because Jesus is always the answer. It’s our desire to see the body of Christ come together and show the world what unity and love looks like, and we believe this may begin in the lives of our children. Let’s mend our hearts and create a safe space to pray and walk with our families through hard times.

DAY THREE: PRAYING FOR PEACE AND UNITY

PRAYER ONE

REFLECT ON THIS SCRIPTURE
Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.
Ephesians 4:3-6

SAY THIS PRAYER
Father, we are in need of unity more than ever. We are hurting, confused and angry at the division and acts of violence. Help us as your children to make every effort to remain united in your name. You are the only one that can heal and you are still on your throne. We look to you alone!

PRAYER TWO

REFLECT ON THIS SCRIPTURE
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. Matthew 5:6-9

SAY THIS PRAYER
Father, give us hearts for justice in your name. Let us not listen to what the world tells us justice is but run to your word to know the truth. Wash over our world and create pure hearts in us. Let truth ring out instead of anger and division. Give me a hunger for your heart.

PRAYER THREE

REFLECT ON THIS SCRIPTURE
Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.  Romans 12:9-10

SAY THIS PRAYER
Let my words not be filled with empty promises. If I open my mouth to speak, speak through me. Show me, Father, how to truly love others. Break my heart for the things that break yours, and show me how to truly honor all of your people. Open my heart to understand things I might not understand and know how to bring a peace and unity among those I come in contact with.
